JOB DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advanced problem-solving capabilities to a variety of product development efforts. The candidate will be expected to work as part of a cross-functional team. We are seeking candidates who are strong in one or more of the following areas: material science, polymer science, inorganic chemistry, fire science.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to understand complex, physical-chemical processes encountered in many polymers and/or materials science & engineering systems through application of scientific first principles. Ideal candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in design and execution of novel experiments in a chemical or materials science / engineering field, along with astute scientific or engineering mathematical analysis to help interpret, explain, optimize and/or predict future results.

• Candidate must be comfortable applying his/her engineering skills to a wide variety of applications areas including but not limited to thermoplastic blend systems, thermoset systems, foaming systems, sustainable technologies, fire science, and/or inorganic materials.

• Developing and maintaining excellent knowledge of literature, patents and industry trends related to the role’s technology area.

• As appropriate for the role, applying technical skills and innovative approaches to define and solve problems.

• Working well both independently and on project teams.

• Documenting work in a timely fashion in data books, internal reports, patent disclosures, and external publications as appropriate.

• Communicating results and progress to technical teams, supervision, management, and business leadership through oral presentations.

• Demonstrating good interpersonal and communications skills.

• Demonstrating high initiative to embrace opportunities and drive success.
